Music and Arts in Action (MAiA) is a peer-reviewed multimedia journal exploring interdisciplinary, empirical and qualitative research on the dynamic role of music and the arts in everyday life.
MAiA: making music and arts matter
Some examples of types of papers which MAiA would be pleased to consider:
- Ethno- or anthropological research on the arts in non-Western contexts.
- Sociological research examining individual and social engagements with the arts, media use of the arts, and mediation in the arts, with a particular emphasis on the affordances of aesthetic materials and how individuals enter into relationships with aesthetic objects.
- Policy or practitioner-based research examining the applied arts and artistic interventions, with an emphasis on questions of social change, political/cultural context, agency and identity.
